My current research focuses on functional ecology with a special emphasis on fire ecology and plant ecology. I specifically interest in the ecological dynamics in Mediterranean and Anatolian steppe ecosystems.

My graduate works (2000-2008) include the post-fire vegetation dynamics of Mediterranean vegetation. After receiving a Ph.D. on ecology at Hacettepe University (Turkey) in 2008, I started to work on fire-related germination, in which I still keep on doing with my research team at the Functional Ecology Lab. Later on, I have expanded my area of interest to include plant-animal interactions, climate change ecology, and the germination ecology in a broader sense. Recently, plant functional ecology has become my major research interest as I enjoy creating or improving plant trait databases and to explore associations among traits under functional hypotheses.

I am currently working as a full professor in Division of Ecology, Department of Biology at Hacettepe University, Ankara, Turkey. For more information about my past and ongoing research projects, you can check our research page. You can access my full scientific profile from my official personal webpage.
